WHAT
IS AN iPIX™ PICTURE?
An iPIX™ image is unlike any other picture. Viewing an iPIX™ image
puts you in the center of the picture with the ability to rotate the view
a full 360°. You can look up, down, left, right, as well as zoom in and
out. Full 360° images are created by capturing two opposing photographs,
called "hemispheres," with a fisheye lens. iPIX™ patented
technology remaps the images and seams them into a full 360° image.
WHAT ARE JAVA FULL 360° IMAGES?
Special formats of full 360° images which are compatible with the iPIX™
Java Viewer. Special files required to view iPIX™
images on the Roach web site are placed in files on the host computer for
roachconveyors.com. Therefore, you do not need to download a special
plug-in that is usually necessary to view iPIX™
images when Java Viewer is not available. The Java Viewer provides users
of Internet Explorer 3 (and up) and Netscape 3 (and up) the ability to
view Full 360° images without iPIX™ Plug-ins or Viewers.
JAVA VERSION NAVIGATION:
The first thing a Windows user will notice when inside a Java Full 360°
image is that the cursor becomes a 4-arrow icon. To move inside the image,
HOLD DOWN your left mouse button and drag the 4-arrow icon in the
direction you wish to move. Hint: The 4-arrow icon drives the
image slowly if held near the center of the picture. The closer the 4arrow
gets to the edge of the picture, the faster the image moves.
The 2-arrow icon, which allows
you to zoom in and zoom out, appears when the cursor is slightly above or
slightly below the center of the image. To zoom closer into the image,
HOLD DOWN your mouse button when the 2-arrow icon is slightly above the
center of the image. To zoom further out of the image, HOLD DOWN your
mouse button when the 2-arrow icon is slightly below the center of the
image.
The first thing a Mac user will
notice when inside a Java Full 360° image is that the cursor becomes a
closed hand icon. To move inside the image, HOLD DOWN your left mouse
button and drag the closed hand icon in the direction you wish to move.
Hint: The closed hand icon drives the image slowly if held near the
center of the picture. The closer the closed hand gets to the edge of the
picture, the faster the image moves.
The arrow icon, which allows
you to zoom in and zoom out, appears when the cursor is slightly above or
slightly below the center of the image. To zoom closer into the image,
HOLD DOWN your mouse button when the arrow icon is slightly above the
center of the image. To zoom further out of the image, HOLD DOWN your
mouse button when the arrow icon is slightly below the center of the
image.
If you prefer keyboard navigation (or if you do NOT have a mouse), it's
still easy to navigate Java Full 360° images.
A crosshair icon will appear in the center of the image when using the
arrow keys to move left, right, up, or down in images. To move quickly,
HOLD DOWN the arrow key which points in the direction you wish to move.
I CLICKED ON AN iPIX™
IMAGE, THE
PAGE INDICATED, "DOCUMENT DONE" BUT I CANNOT SEE THE IMAGE.
Internet screens are sent in "packets" that are transmitted and
arrive separately. Since iPIX™
images may be larger than other screen
content, it often takes 20-40 seconds or longer to download an entire
image, depending on the modem speed and Internet traffic at that time.
Please allow enough time to download the whole image and let it decompress
before trying to navigate within it.
ON MY MACINTOSH, WHEN I FIRST DOWNLOADED AN
IPIX™ IMAGE, THE SCREEN WENT BLANK AND MY
SYSTEM SEEMED TO LOCK.
You probably don't have enough memory allocated to the application. This
is particularly true in the case of Macintosh computers using the Netscape
browser. Simply raise the memory allocation for Netscape to at least 9MB
(or more) and you should be able to view iPIX™ images. |
